TGIF! Thank God, It's Friday! Good day, everyone.
Folks and friends, if I were to ask you: Which do you prefer, sunrise or sunset? Would you choose one over the other? None of the above? Or both? Why?
Look at these photos I've taken while I was in my backyard one Autumn Friday over Hampton Roads. See what I've seen and witnessed? Aren't they amazing and inspiring? Glad and thankful that I captured the mood of the moment, with these Canadian geese flying so free in the open Autumn skies. Thank God for your creation, including me and all around me...I feel so blessed. Thank you, Jesus! You're my Inspiration, you know.
Well, enjoy my photos, my dear folks and friends! Am I good or what? Thank you.

Although many, I would assume, consider sunset to be lovely and romantic, I like sunrise. Why? For me, it's glorious and magical, and simply amazing and beautiful! I love to be able to walk out early morning and watch the beauty of the sun as it slowly rises up in the horizon to meet or kiss the azure sky. Isn't it fantastic and magical to witness this ball of fire, a source of life that's emerging again from its slumber? That's my take on Sunrise.
Smile, folks! And move on...Be that sunrise for others, you know. I won't say forget your past. But this is just my thought: Don't be tied up in your past. It's over and done and, honestly, there's nothing you can do about it but face and accept the challenges and changes of today, NOW, this time! Stay alive and healthy, as much as you can, and be happy with your life. Live it well, you know. If you don't , who will? Enjoy what you do and share what you know and what you have...Thank God, we're alive and well, and busy blogging and sharing our time, talents, thoughts, etc.
Hope you guys enjoyed my presentation today. Stay positive and hopeful. Likewise, do something worthwhile to keep you sane and sensible, like me. This blogging (and photography) keeps me busy and alive, and well, you know. I just love sharing with you one of my hobbies nowadays. Hope you're inspired to do something interesting to make our life-world beautiful and wonderful...
Until next time around, my dear folks and friends near or far. Stay tuned for my next post. Take care and Smile always! God bless us all!-chris a. quilpa, 10.25.2013

One Lovely Thursday
Good day, everyone!
What a blessing and a rare opportunity for me to witness the beauty of our natural world, experiencing peace and serenity while I was in my backyard this Thursday morning! Thank God. Though it was kind of chilly and cold, the sun was bright and dazzling, and I can say what a beautiful day today!
Taking time to be outside and enjoying every moment of the day is such a wonderful experience for me. It's quite a relief and sort of a panacea for me to just loaf and let the day and the sun shine go by. Photos of me taken today are hereby embedded for the sharing with you, my dear folks and friends. So, without further delay, here they are...Enjoy! Take time to be outside, too, if you have the opportunity. And enjoy the sun and the Autumn/Fall weather. Ok, have a great day, everybody! Thanks for your time with me. Until next time around. Bye!-chris a. quilpa, 10.24.2013

Grocery-Shopping Time
Hello, everyone! We're still here...So, welcome to our blog-world, especially to our accidental reader/s!
At the outset, I thank God and His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ, for being alive and well, and inspired by the Holy Spirit (to share with you my life, my thoughts, and experiences as I continue living and trying to enjoy Life, with Hope and Love, and Faith)!
Just to let you know that, as I am composing this post, I'm watching-listening to the music of one of my favorite singers, the legendary Nora Aunor, the one and only superstar in the Philippines, on YouTube. (Thanks to those video uploaders on YT. Do appreciate the good job you're doing...sharing your passion with/to the public.) I feel relaxed and relieved each time I listen to her songs, mostly ballads, you know. I'm not kidding! On the other hand, our TV in our family room has been on, set on PBS,the whole afternoon, since I arrived from my grocery-shopping at my favorite Navy Commissary/Exchange Store today, the one nearest to my residence. So, as you can imagine, where lies my (full) attention/concentration? But, of course, on my blogging! Really? Wondering if you're distracted, Chris, as you're trying to multitask yourself? I can do it, believe me! And I'm doing it right now! If there's a will, there's concentration!
A few hours ago, I've just uploaded and shared photos (I've taken today while grocery-shopping) to my Facebook page for our FB friends and families everywhere around the globe. That is, to let them know that we're doing well so far...I'm going to embed some of those photos here so our blog reader/s can find out our journey in and through life. Just be patient, folks. You'll see me again...
In spite of the gray, chilly and cold Tuesday that we have today in Hampton Roads, and possibly in other areas where Autumn or Fall is in full swing, I'd say I have had a great time today at NEX/Commissary and at home. Thank God...I had "brunch" there (actually a late breakfast, though) at NEX/Subway, where I had a brief chat with a fellow diner there and "Shipmate" (who recognized me as one of their patients in PT, Physical Therapy) at NMCP. I learned that he retired two years earlier than me and now currently working there at NMCP as a contract employee. That's good, I said, as I wish him well. "Have a good day, man," he said when he's done eating. You, too, I replied.
After brunch, I did my shopping at NEX...It was timely at that moment, this morning, while I was at the Women's section, trying to figure out what to buy for Freny, when she gave me a ring. I asked her if she prefers the black Coach bag, instead of the other color, almond? Bingo, she likes the black one! That's what I bought her, with the matching purse. Now, on my way to the Electronics Dept., passing by the Navy Uniform & Gifts section, I got fascinated with this small stuff animal (with big eyes and a long tail!) that it didn't take seconds for me to place it on my shopping cart. In addition, I got fascinated with that Navy blue mug (admittedly, I collect mugs, folks!). At the Electronics section, I couldn't decide whether to buy that white Samsung camera or the blue Canon. A white couple bought that white Samsung digital camera that has this WiFi feature in it. (Hint: I met the couple again at the Commissary while I was doing my grocery. Glenn, that's his name, was in one of my Commissary photos. His wife's is Paula, he said.) Though they were convincing, I went with my guts and opted for and I buy that cute, sleek, blue Canon PowerShot camera. (Actually, I've been eyeing on that since last week; I just waited for my scratch card discount to arrive in the mail so I could save a few $$.) That matches my blue NAVY mug! My friend Kendall (you'll see him with his peace sign) guaranteed that I get 15% off of the total purchase I had. Really? Why? Because he has with him that scratched card with 15% discount and that offer ends today. Thanks, Kendall!
Well, after paying all my merchandise at the Electronics Dept., and passing by the Luggage section, I decided to buy now a pair of luggage for me and Freny's planned cruise next year, in April? I chose the Skyway brand, more durable, I suppose. It's good that I brought with me my scratch card (sent to me via mail by NEX a week ago) that let me save a couple of bucks. I got lucky to have 15% discount again. Before, each time I use the scratch card, I only get 5% off of the total purchase. Thank God. I saved over two hundred for all the merchandise I bought from NEX.
From the NEX, I drove our Sienna to the Commissary where I did my groceries there. You'll see what I have had in my grocery cart. At the check out, sales associate Christine, on check out counter #2, did scan my groceries. She's in the picture, too. And, finally, thanks to Barbara who helped me load my groceries to my van.
Now, folks, here are the photos I promised to embed herewith. Thanks for reading and watching...Until next time around.
Oppps, it's past midnight already. And it's bedtime for me. Good night, everybody! See you next time. God bless us all. Always.-chris a. quilpa, 10.22.2013

Fall Foliage
Some leaves have fallen
And their colors and shapes changed
Because it's now Fall.
Green, orange and red
Fall colors to please the eyes
Autumn leaves falling.
Fall foliage abound
During this time of the year
When it's getting cold.

Catching Up
Mid-October now
Loafing is such a sweet thing
Doing nothing but...
Still enjoying Life
Amidst the turmoil around
Here and there, living...
Unexpected Life
Of young, early retirement
Trying and doing...
What's best to love Life
When there's pain around my world
But let go and move on...
Catching up I missed
In Life, while the world has changed
With technology...

@Hardee's in Portsmouth
(NOTE: The piece below was written originally on a yellow post-it note by yours truly who happened to be dining out @ Hardee's in Portsmouth, Tuesday, 24 Sep 2013 @0855. I snapped a number photos (which basically reflected on what I've described below) while having breakfast. I'll see if I can embed them here with this piece.)
@Hardee's in Portsmouth, On a Fall Tuesday Morning
On a Fall Tuesday morning
@Hardee's in Portsmouth
there's laughter heard
in one corner
where an older couple sat
as they're enjoying their coffee
and breakfast platter, I guess
(I got one, too, with cinnamon-raisin biscuit and coffee.)
(I got one, too, with cinnamon-raisin biscuit and coffee.)
Majority of the diners, I see, today
(with exception to one or two old black men)
(with exception to one or two old black men)
they're mostly white old couples
I believe they're retirees
I believe they're retirees
senior citizens, they say,
already in their golden years.
Now on another table
sat quietly another white couple
eating their egg-bacon sandwiches
while I'm jotting down these lines
on an adjacent table, alone
on an adjacent table, alone
nibbling, enjoying every bite
of my cinnamon-raisin biscuit
made from scratch, they say.
Then one white woman stood up
from her dining table
to dump her trash
in a designated area
next to another table
this white old couple
facing each other
I can tell, they're done
dining, now lounging.
Once in a while,
there's this look,
a meaningful stare
of the old man facing me...
it's that suspicious look
one that's interpretative
one that can be misinterpreted
but wait, his white spouse
turned her head around
and saw me...
and then our eyes met
"Good morning," she said
smilingly, as she got up
from their table...
I smiled, too, reciprocating
"Good morning."
What a change of mood,
what a change of atmosphere!
I felt good and contented,
"Thank God," I thought...
Well, on the other hand, what is it
that senior citizens stoop down
a lot nowadays
now that they're aged and old
but still active and able
and capable?
They're looking down
with anxious, serious faces
(not many of them smiling anymore)
while other younger diners
when they come in to the restaurant
they look up or straight
and they always seem preoccupied,
in haste, in a hurry, with no time
for them to waste...
why is this?
Ah, nevertheless, there's peace
and order and civility and camaraderie
@Hardee's in Portsmouth
on this Fall Tuesday morning
there's that fellowship
there's that sense
of serenity
freedom and independence
among diners there...
though it's a reality
to each his/her own
that's what I see-witness
as an immigrant-turned U.S. citizen
who served in and retired from the military.
