This morning, Freny and I went to D-ville to pick up our daughter Tintin (who was scheduled to play piano for a church in Norfolk tomorrow, Sunday), instead of visiting our son Andrew at The Land of Mary/The Capital, as originally planned.
(BTW, On our way, we dropped by at McRestaurant for coffee and breakfast sandwiches. After breakfast on the road, I led the praying of the rosary, with Joyful Mysteries today, Saturday, in mind. Freny just followed or prayed along with me, while driving.)
Tintin, who just started working this month at D-ville as a college adviser to junior-senior high schoolers, has already a car (her college graduation gifts from us, her parents) but needs a little polishing in her driving. Having lived in the University dorm for the duration of her four college years, she hasn't had much driving experience since she got her driver's license when she was in third year college. That's the reason why we're kinda concern about her driving. But, we trust God to guide her and watch over her. I know, we have to let her go so she'll experience and learn to be confident in her abilities. We believe that doing is learning.
So far so good, she said when I asked her how's her driving to and from work in D-ville the past two days. She said she's getting used to it. From her apartment mate and colleague Morgan, Tintin said she learned a new route, an easy and more direct way to and from her work. That's commendable!
So, when we arrived there in D-ville at mid-noon today, after three and a half-hour or four hour drive by Freny (restroom stop included), we immediately had Tintin's car inspected there to make sure that it has all four tires fully inflated to meet the manufacturer's specification. From the car dealership's service station at D-ville, we found our way on the road back to Hampton Roads. Tintin did the driving of her car while I was on the passenger side, just sort of "guiding" her, even if she has her GPS unit installed. Freny, on the other hand, was following us with our van. But, of course, we communicated with each other via our cellphones.
Tintin did drive the whole road trip from D-ville to HR with ease and confidence, I observed. She did good, and she demonstrated a strong desire to drive independently with confidence and skills. She has had the determination to do what she wants to do, I think so. Anyway, as she goes along, she'll get better in her driving and she'll do well in her work, I do believe.
Now, you may be wondering about the title of this blog post. My explanation is this: on our way to D-ville this morning (as usual, Freny did the long driving), I took notes on my Composition Book, trying to capture the scenery, my thoughts and imaginings while traveling on the road with my wife Freny. So, my dear folks and friends, without further delay, I'm sharing with you my...
